DWYER ADVOCATES FOR CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Member for Port Macquarie Robert Dwyer is urging the NSW Government to deliver a

budget that balances critical infrastructure investment with support for essential

community services as cost-of-living pressures continue to impact local families.

Mr Dwyer said that just as households across the electorate are carefully managing

their finances, the State Government must ensure every taxpayer dollar is directed

towards projects and services that strengthen communities and improve quality of life.

"Like any family, budgeting each week is something we all have to do during these

challenging economic times," Mr Dwyer said.

"As the Government prepares to hand down its State Budget next week, I hope it is

taking the same disciplined approach while ensuring regional communities like ours

receive the investment they deserve."

Mr Dwyer said he has been actively advocating for the Port Macquarie electorate,

regularly meeting with Ministers and inviting Port Macquarie-Hastings Council

representatives to join discussions on priority infrastructure projects.

Among the key projects requiring ongoing State Government support are:

• The urgent upgrade of the Oxley Highway between Wrights Road and Lake Road;
• Water security improvements through the Cowarra Water Supply Scheme;
• Increased wastewater treatment capacity through the Thrumster Wastewater Scheme; and
• Progression of the Port Macquarie Aquatic Centre.

"I have been working closely with Ministers to ensure these projects remain firmly on

the Government's agenda," Mr Dwyer said.

"I have also met with Ministers individually and have already secured positive progress

on Stage 2 of the Oxley Highway upgrade, demonstrating that strong advocacy can

deliver results for our community."

Mr Dwyer said it was equally important to ensure commitments made in previous State

Budgets are delivered on time and in full.

Projects currently being monitored include:

• The Harrington Flyover ($60 million);
• Port Macquarie Base Hospital Redevelopment ($265 million);
• Port Macquarie Police Station ($20 million);
• Critical infrastructure investment for Lord Howe Island ($135 million);
• New preschools at Moorland and Tacking Point ($14 million);
• The $20 million Pacific Highway/Oxley Highway off ramp
• Social and affordable housing developments on Grant Street.

Beyond major infrastructure, Mr Dwyer said he is continuing to advocate for increased

funding across a range of essential services that support the social fabric of local

communities.

"I have consistently called for greater investment in mental health services, domestic

violence and family support programs, Parkinson's services, environmental protection

and invasive species management, education, health and other critical community

services," he said.

"While infrastructure projects are important, we must not lose sight of the services that support vulnerable people, strengthen families and improve community wellbeing."

Mr Dwyer said he remains optimistic that the upcoming State Budget will deliver

positive outcomes for the electorate and provide the foundations for future growth and

prosperity.

"Our community deserves investment that not only delivers roads, water and essential

infrastructure, but also supports the people who live here every day," Mr Dwyer said.
