Clarification on Proposed Park Street Development
Clarification on Proposed Park Street Development
Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer, has not publicly supported or opposed the proposed 18-storey development in Park Street, Port Macquarie.
“It appears that some people may have misinterpreted my position on this proposal.
“In the statement I issued on 16 January, I noted that, if approved, the development would deliver affordable housing, generate jobs, and change the skyline of Port Macquarie. That was a factual observation, not an endorsement,” Mr Dwyer said.
“I also made it clear that the potential impact on local infrastructure is a concern. If the development is approved, I will use this proposed development to continue to lobby for additional funding for roads, water, and sewer upgrades, as I have already done on behalf of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.”
“Finally, I encouraged residents to participate in the community consultation process once it commences.”
“I reiterate that I have not endorsed this proposed development. My comments were intended to outline the facts and to encourage the community to have their say,” Mr Dwyer said.
