$500,000 ON OFFER TO BOOST WOMEN AND GIRLS’ PARTICIPATION IN SPORT

Local sporting organisations across the Port Macquarie electorate are being encouraged to apply for funding under the Play Her Way Innovation Program, with a total of $500,000 available to support initiatives that grow participation among women and girls.

 

Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer said the program provides a valuable opportunity for clubs and organisations to deliver innovative projects that break down barriers and create more inclusive sporting environments.

 

“Women and girls deserve equal opportunities to participate, lead and build careers in sport,” Mr Dwyer said.

 

“This funding will support practical initiatives that open doors, whether that’s encouraging participation, building leadership pathways, or creating more welcoming and inclusive clubs.”

 

The Play Her Way Innovation Program continues the success of the former Her Sport Her Way Grant Program and is focused on delivering long-term improvements in access and inclusion.
 
Funding is available across four streams:

 

  • Career Activations – promoting awareness of career opportunities in sport
  • Career Offerings – strengthening pathways and support for young women pursuing careers in sport
  • Participation – removing barriers and increasing access for women and girls
  • Capability – building organisational capacity and fostering inclusive sporting cultures

Eligible applicants include NSW Office of Sport recognised State Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Organisations for People with Disability.
 
Partnerships with community organisations, particularly those working with under-represented groups, are strongly encouraged.
 

Applications close at 1pm on Thursday, 30 April 2026.
