DWYER’S STRONG SUPPORT FOR PMHC
DWYER’S STRONG SUPPORT FOR PMHC

Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer has continued his strong advocacy for Port Macquarie Hastings Council by facilitating another important meeting between Council and the NSW Government.
Mr Dwyer last week arranged a meeting with the NSW Minister for Sport, Lands and Property, Stephen Kamper and Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Adam Roberts to discuss several major sporting infrastructure priorities across the region.
Among the key issues raised during the meeting were the future development of the long awaited Port Macquarie Aquatic Centre and significant upgrades to the Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium, projects regarded as critical investments in the future health, wellbeing and economic growth of the community.
Mr Dwyer said sport and recreation facilities play a vital role in supporting local families, encouraging healthy lifestyles and attracting major events to the region.
“Sport plays an integral part in the lives of so many people throughout our community, from young children participating in local competitions through to senior athletes and volunteers who dedicate countless hours to local clubs and organisations,” Mr Dwyer said.
“It is vitally important that our region has access to modern, high quality sporting infrastructure that can meet the needs of our growing population both now and into the future.
“The Port Macquarie Aquatic Centre has long been a priority for our community and upgrades to the Regional Sports Stadium would deliver enormous benefits for local sporting groups, schools and visitors to our region.”
Mr Dwyer said the meeting with Minister Kamper was constructive and provided an important opportunity to outline the region’s priorities directly with the NSW Government.
“I appreciate the time Minister Kamper gave us today and his willingness to listen to the needs and aspirations of our community,” he said.
“I believe the discussions were extremely productive and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the NSW Government and Council to deliver important infrastructure outcomes.”
Mr Dwyer said he remained committed to ensuring the Port Macquarie electorate maintains strong relationships with senior members of the NSW Government and continues to have a strong voice at the state level.
As part of this ongoing advocacy, Mr Dwyer has also arranged a series of meetings between Mayor Roberts and several key NSW Government Ministers, including Jenny Aitchison, Paul Scully and NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey over the past 12 months.
“These meetings are incredibly important because they ensure our region’s priorities are being heard directly by decision-makers in government,” Mr Dwyer said.
“I strongly believe that when local councils and state governments work together cooperatively, we can achieve positive outcomes that benefit the entire community.
“My focus will always remain on advocating for the projects, services and infrastructure our region needs to continue growing and thriving,” Mr Dwyer said.
