Local Sporting Clubs Share in More Than $46,000 Funding Boost

Nine sporting clubs across the Port Macquarie electorate will benefit from a combined $46,000 in funding through the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program 2025.

Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer said the program attracted a record number of applications this year, highlighting the strong demand for investment in grassroots sport across the region.

“I acknowledge and thank all clubs that submitted applications for this funding round. The quality and number of submissions reflect the passion and commitment of our local sporting community,” Mr Dwyer said.

“The successful projects range from facility upgrades to new equipment and participation initiatives, all aimed at increasing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in sport and active recreation.”

The successful recipients are:

  • $2,000 for Port Macquarie Rowing Club to stage the 3 Rivers Mini Marathon
  • $3,600 for Port Macquarie Australian Rules Football Club to purchase goal post pads
  • $8,370 for Port City Rugby League Football Club to upgrade club equipment
  • $5,000 for Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club to enhance the racing circuit
  • $3,000 for Port Macquarie Triathlon Club to deliver a junior participation initiative
  • $2,000 for Laurieton Tennis Club to establish a free tennis pathway program
  • $5,000 for Port Macquarie Swimming Club to install a new electronic scoreboard
  • $12,130 for Football Mid North Coast to support football development
  • $5,000 for Mid North Coast Veteran Cricket Association to purchase sporting equipment

Mr Dwyer said the funding will help local clubs continue to grow and provide inclusive, high quality sporting opportunities for the community.

“This investment ensures our local clubs can continue to thrive and support healthier, more active lifestyles across the region,” Mr Dwyer said.
