LOCAL SPORTING GROUPS RECEIVE FUNDING BOOST THROUGH 2025 CLUB GRANTS

Two much-loved community sporting organisations will receive major upgrades thanks to new funding delivered through the 2025 Club Grants Category Three Fund, Member for Port Macquarie Robert Dwyer announced today.

“Under the program, the Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Club has secured $200,000 to support significant improvements at the Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park. The funding will assist with track upgrades, maintenance, increased security and enhancements that will improve rider safety and experience, while also helping the club meet increasing demand as the sport continues to grow in popularity across the region.

“In addition, the Bonny Hills Tennis Club has been awarded $65,823 to upgrade its court lighting system. The improved lighting will extend playing hours, support evening competitions and social matches, and create a more accessible environment for players of all ages and abilities. The project is expected to benefit not only club members but also the wider community, which regularly uses the facility for coaching, events, and recreational play.

“These are two very popular sporting groups with strong and growing memberships, so the funding allocations will make a tremendous difference to both organisations,” Mr Dwyer said.

“The upgrades will improve safety, usability, and overall enjoyment for residents who rely on these facilities.”

Mr Dwyer emphasised the broader importance of investing in community sport.

“Sport plays a key role in our community—not only in promoting physical health, but also in strengthening social connections and providing opportunities for people to come together.”

“Any improvements to local sporting facilities are very welcome, and I am pleased to see these clubs receiving the support they need to continue thriving,” Mr Dwyer said.

The projects are expected to commence in the coming months, with both clubs expressing enthusiasm for the enhancements and gratitude for the funding support.
