Robert Dwyer MP welcomes six new probationary constables’ home to Port Macquarie and Kempsey through 'Be a Cop in Your Home Town' program

Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer MP, has welcomed six newly graduated probationary constables home to the Mid North Coast, as they commence duties in the Port Macquarie and Kempsey local area commands.
The officers are part of the NSW Police Force’s Be a Cop in Your Home Town program — a new regional initiative that makes it easier for recruits from country areas to stay connected to family, lifestyle and community by giving them confidence about where they will work once they join the Force.
After completing their training at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn, three probationary constables will serve in Port Macquarie, and three will be based in Kempsey.
Robert Dwyer MP met with the officers this week to personally congratulate them on finishing their academy training and to officially welcome them to their first postings.
“These six new probationary constables have worked extremely hard to get here, and it’s terrific to see them begin their policing careers on the Mid North Coast,” Mr Dwyer said.
“The Be a Cop in Your Home Town program is a fantastic opportunity for regional recruits allowing them to serve close to home in the communities they know and love while contributing to local safety.
“Our communities rely on strong, local policing, and I know these new officers will be a great asset to both Port Macquarie and Kempsey.”
Mr Dwyer also acknowledged the support of family and friends who encouraged the recruits throughout their training.
“I wish them every success in their new roles and thank them for their commitment to serving our region,” Mr Dwyer saidifferent source.
