BUSINESSES ARE FRUSTRATED WITH LACK OF CATEGORY D FUNDING
Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer has reiterated his frustration that Category D flood recovery funding has not been included for small businesses impacted by the recent floods.
“As I said in my media release earlier this month, “Impacted primary producers and small businesses still have mortgages to pay, they still have to wages and taxes pay and they still have to put food on the table. Government’s need to change the way they look at this, rather than looking at it as a hand out, they should consider this as an investment.
“There is growing resentment in the community that cries for help are not being heard by the State and Federal Governments and it is not good enough. Doing nothing is not an option and I am again calling on both levels of Government to do the right thing and approve the funding.
“All of the relevant State and Federal Ministers as well as the Premier and the Prime Minister toured the devastated flood damage on the Mid North Coast including the Manning Valley, Port Macquarie and Kempsey and saw first hand the incredible damage to shops and businesses.
“I cannot fathom why Category D funding has not been extended to the business community as it has to primary produces and I am calling on the Premier and the Prime Minister to sign off on the funding as a matter of urgency,” Mr Dwyer said.
