DWYER WELCOMES PORT MACQUARIE POLICE STATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Member for Port Macquarie, Robert Dwyer welcomed today’s announcement of the $20 million redevelopment of the Port Macquarie Police Station to meet the needs of officer and our community into the future.

“A new Police Station was earmarked in the 2021 State Budget which began the search for a suitable location for the new site to build a new station,” Mr Dwyer said.

“Despite some false starts while the Police Infrastructure and Assets Command  searched for a potential site, it was determined that the current location on the corner of Hay Street and Sunset Parade in Port Macquarie was the most suitable location.

“The redevelopment will see a modern multi-story configuration that will allow our local Police to undertake their duties in a new purpose built station, rather than the poorly designed rabbit warren of a station that they currently use,” Mr Dwyer said.

“In speaking with local Police they are extremely happy that work will start once plans are finalised on their new facility and I am very keen to see the building progress with work commencing early next year with completion set for late 2027.”
