OFFICIALLY THE MEMBER FOR PORT MACQUARIE
ROBERT DWYER NOW OFFICIALLY THE MEMBER FOR PORT MACQUARIE
With the declaration of the by-election for the seat of Port Macquarie now declared, Robert Dwyer is now officially the Member for Port Macquarie.
The final votes were released by the NSW Electoral Commission revealing the Liberals candidate Mr Robert Dwyer received 53.46% of the vote with the Nationals Sean Gleeson with 46.54% votes two party preferred.
“I am immensely proud and humbled to be the State representative for everyone in the electorate for the next two years and hopefully beyond,” Mr Dwyer said.
“I have already hit the ground running spending two days in Parliament last week meeting my colleagues and getting a feel for the machinations of the House.
“On Thursday I met with the Minister for Roads, the Hon Jenny Aitchison MP to discuss roads issues via a Teams Meeting and will be meeting her in person on 8th May specifically to talk about the urgent need to upgrade the Oxley Highway between Wrights Road and the Lake Road roundabouts,” Mr Dwyer said.
“On Monday I attended the official opening of the new $5.7 million Port Macquarie Observatory and this morning I met with Mid North Coast Local Area Commander Shane Cribb to discuss local Police issues.
“On Friday I am meeting with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor Adam Roberts and I am looking forward to working together with Council on a range of projects including the Lake Road upgrades, Schools to Schools Shared Pathway between Kew and Laurieton, Rainbow Beach Sporting Fields and the proposed Camden Haven SLSC building,” Mr Dwyer said.
“Whilst I am new to the role of an MP, I am supported by a very tight knit experienced team in the Port Macquarie electorate office, so it is very much business as usual for them and a steep learning curve for me as the new Member striving to follow the high standards set by the amazing Leslie Williams,” Mr Dwyer said.
